About $6.3 billion left Binance hot wallets, and source estimates still diverge

Daily on Cardano
The largest event of the day is an outflow, and the amount is not yet one figure. Binance and Cointelegraph speak of about $6.3 billion. TRM Labs of $6.36 billion. Chainalysis of about $5.9 billion. Kriptoteme, citing CoinDesk, writes of a possible largest hack in crypto history and of bitcoin sliding toward $77,000. A Binance co-CEO promised to cover the losses. The same piece warns that early information can change. Funds left hot wallets across 10 chains. According to a statement carried by news.bitcoin.com, the attack began on 29 October at 15:24 EST.
crypto.news puts the cause on a compromised laptop of a DevOps engineer. TRM, Chainalysis, and Pangolin link the attack to North Korea. At 14:03 Cointelegraph is running a live account and links it to the TraderTraitor group. Those are attributions by those firms. This desk reports them and does not confirm them on its own. CryptoSlate writes that the attack began with a $296 million XRP drain after 36 hours of preparation, with 167,464 ETH via EIP-7702 delegations. Binance says it holds $5 billion in the affected tokens and is buying over the counter to keep payouts going. Users, according to Binance, are to be compensated from SAFU and from Binance's own funds. Partners, according to Binance, froze about $3 billion.

What was frozen, and what is still moving
Aave froze 292 reserves across 16 networks. news.bitcoin.com carries that. Ripple froze about $200 million. The same account also has more than $2 billion in USDT and USDC. WLFI and BitGo froze $27 million in USD1. Analysts estimate that about $2.7 billion was frozen in total, and that about $2.4 billion is beyond the reach of issuers. Those figures stand next to each other. This piece does not add them into one balance. The Crypto Basic, citing Lookonchain, writes that the attacker sold UNI, ENA, PEPE, LINK, AAVE, ONDO, and WLD for about 70,500 ETH.
At 06:50 @HAMDAStakePool wrote that $6.3 billion was affected and that NOT YOUR KEYS, NOT YOUR COINS still holds. At 11:45 @Lucasdb86 pointed out that on Cardano people stake from their own wallet, without a lockup. At 09:28 @ilmcloughlin argues that eUTXO blocks a mass-drain loop of the kind he describes for EVM delegation. That is an argument, not proof. At 01:20 @IndulisPilimons wrote that Cardano payouts on Binance are suspended. At 08:28 @GrahamsNoPlus1 writes that patience is reaching its limit. A date for those payouts to resume is not confirmed. Neither is the final size of the outflow. The range the sources leave today is $5.9 billion to $6.36 billion.
Circle, Coinbase, and the other rows
Circle is asking the SEC to cut the broker-dealer haircut on stablecoins that comply with GENIUS from 2 percent to 0 percent, the treatment of cash. Kriptoteme also mentions the Regulation Crypto Assets proposal of 18 August, with exemptions up to $5 million over four years and up to $75 million over 12 months. Coinbase's third quarter: Kriptoteme writes that about $715 million of profit comes from crypto gains on the balance sheet, and that adjusted profit is $78 million. Revenue is $1.22 billion, down 35 percent year on year. Prediction markets bring about $200 million a year. The headline of the same piece speaks of profit of $719 million. Those are two rows in the same article, 719 in the headline and about 715 in the body.
The French Senate adopted a proposal for automatic exchange of crypto tax data, on the OECD's CARF. Proposal number 3421 goes to the National Assembly. The vote on the revenue side of the budget is on 3 November. After a settlement with the FCA, HTX left the British market. It no longer takes deposits from users in the United Kingdom and will not target that market with promotions. That is 29 October. XRPL is narrowing an overly broad definition of the right to hold restricted tokens. The XRPL Foundation says no user was affected and that this is not an exploit. KuCoin is leaving Russia and Belarus, with deadlines for withdrawals. Polymarket is restricting trading after reports of drained wallets. From 31 October, Circle cuts limits on legacy CCTP V1 transfers. Walmart, Microsoft, and JPMorgan are blocking tokenization of their shares in a venture backed by the NYSE. Solflare is reimbursing missed SOL rewards after a validator stall. About 1.56 million SOL, about $160 million, was not earning rewards. Solflare pays from its own funds. Polygon and Solana announce stablecoin payments in banks without named banks, dates, or figures, so that row stops here. The warning about Ledger implants in Singapore still needs a check. The source is a post on CoinMarketCap Community, not a confirmed finding.
